PlayReflections is a fun and engaging blend of imagination, games,
creative movement, music and relaxation. Through experiential learning,
PlayReflections programs encourage communication and foster
self-esteem.
The
most important thing is to continually return to the moment. That
is the central element of play. Diving into the present moment means
giving ourselves endless opportunities - in playground talk - do-overs
to be continuously in learning mode. That is the juice of creativity.
Sharing a playful approach to life in the company of others is a
way to practice not judging yourself. Play is an equalizer. Play
is what we do with what isnt perfect. Play is dancing with
our imperfections. But if were stuck in our heads prejudging
and critiquing ourselves and worrying about what other people think,
we block our creativity.
Playfulness cultivates an attitude which joyfully bridges and enhances
our work and personal lives.
Jeanne finds conventional methods of stress reduction used by businesses
and organizations typically offer little opportunity for people
to genuinely activate their creative sides. She believes that when
adults feel comfortable and relaxed they can tap - possibly for
the first time - into their natural playful energy, enlivening their
full potential.
And just what tricks does Jeanne have up her colorful sleeves for
loosening up over-stressed adults? Jeannes magic is created
via unique playshops - featuring unconventional playful
exercises that are so carefully structured the imposed order is
invisible. The way to teach adults to rediscover their innate
capacity for play is not to talk endlessly to them about it, but
to leap into playing. I do that through a deliberate progression
of activities that build safety.

All the experiences offered are intentionally designed to foster
an environment of non-competition. Instead of the traditional win/lose
scenario we are so accustomed to in our society, the win/win approach
allows for inclusiveness - all playshoppers leave with
a feeling of success. Jeanne structures playshops so that each participant
never feels forced to play -- a definite oxymoron. Since play
is truly about ultimate choice, there is no such thing as forced
play.
Even the most stoic overwhelmed adult can discover an amazing thing.
De-stressing decreases inhibitions. As participants fear of
risk-taking diminishes, their creative abilities, communication
and problem-solving skills correspondingly increase.

Throughout playshops, people are encouraged to support and acknowledge
themselves and each other - key elements that are often lacking
in communication.
I always include some creative expressive way of showing appreciation
that we use throughout a playshop. There is no such thing as too
much appreciation!
The latest psychological research supports the importance of reducing
workplace stress. {Stress} can dampen judgment process, creativity,
risk-taking and other mental states crucial to producing good work.

Play is not just about doing, its about being. Play is a state
of
grace, innocence, wonder and creativity... and happens when anyone
is truly living in the present tense.
